VB Scripts

Iím starting to build up quite a few vb scripts that I use around my projects. For data preparation and analysis. I do often use bash scripts but with windows based machines so freely available I do find these scripts useful.

Over time I shall try and fill in all the descriptions.

To start with, I will just dump all my vb scripts here. Some may not be so useful. You do need to go through them in detail before using them.

There are other files on the documents page.

Splits a file into the given number of lines. Watchout: the ending of the resulting files is hardcoded to .csv

split_file.vbs.txt

This script reads in a file and randomises it's lines. THERE IS A HARD CODED LIMIT on the number of lines output. This code is slow. Iíll look into that at some point. If you have cygwin (or linux), you can use shuf which is really fast.

random_file_from_file3.vbs.txt

This script reads in a file and adds a pseudo exponential curve of popularity.
The curve is hard coded within the script

create_curved_data_from_list.vbs.txt

This script removes the lines in the first input file that are found in the second input file

filter_with_file.vbs.txt

This script KEEPS the lines in the first input file that are found in the second input file

filter_with_file_keep.vbs.txt

This script RETRIEVES the lines in the first input file if the specified field contains any of the lines in the second input file

grep_by_field_to_new_file.vbs.txt

This script RETRIEVES the lines in the first input file if the specified field DOES NOT contain any of the lines in the second input file

not_grep_by_field_to_new_file.vbs.txt

This script RETRIEVES the lines in the first input file that are found in the second input file

grep_to_new_file.vbs.txt

This script compares the latest file to the total file and copies the new lines to a new rolled over file with a date stamp in the name. AND it takes account of rolling logs on the source...
